Our maid of 3 years left today. They`re a family -- wife, husband and 2 children. The wife, with one of the kids, left 2 weeks ago. She was supposed to leave her son there in the province, "Hindi po ako makapag trabaho ng maayos pag nandito anak ko," she said. My mom and I find this entirely stupid but we didn`t say anything since it`s not in our place to dictate them what to do with their lives.
Last week, she contacted my mother, asking for money to buy a ticket so she can go back to Manila. Even with hesitation, my mom agreed just so she could go back safely.
Three days already passed yet she still hasn`t arrived. Her husband, as I`ve noticed, is always spacing out, more often than before. Probably thinking about his wife, I concluded.
Earlier, I got into a little spat with the man. I guess I was not on a good mood from the moment I woke up, which made me lose my temper. I can handle it, until earlier. We confronted one another on the way home. The next thing I know, he`s packing his things. He called his daughter to pack too. I got a little bit guilty because I think I went overboard for what I`ve done earlier until I found out the reason of their leaving. His wife called, saying that she`ll never return again. She and her son will stay at Iloilo and the husband and the other child will stay at Antipolo first, fend for themselves until they`ve saved enough money to go to Iloilo as well.
It`s not in my place to impose what they`re supposed to do, but I find all of these completely stupid. First, she`s a mother. How can she just do those things and not think about the other child she left here? Second, if that`s her plan from the start, then she should`ve just brought her daughter along. Imagine leaving your child behind without a permanent settlement?
The whole family`s gone now. And we have to stop thinking about them, just like what my mom said. We have our own life, we should think of ours before theirs. It`s up to them if they want to experience a hard life.
On a completely unrelated note, this photo was taken at the maid`s room. I liked how this was captured, even if I don`t own any professional camera, my trusty digital camera will always be to the rescue! ;) (The photo isn`t edited in any way except for cropping.)
